December update

My first December as a 'retired' person (hah!)..... Conducting Christmas at DePaul Dec 8/9 at St. Vincent DePaul Church on the DePaul campus -- 140 singers, a full orchestra and more fun than anyone should have conducting!  Playing a duo recital with friend Deb Stevenson (oboe) at the Schweikher House in Schaumburg, IL, December 18 at 3 p.m. -- music of Poulenc, Marcello, Head, Gershwin, Liszt and Kesselman.

On the composing side, I haver recently finished:

a new song cycle for soprano and piano called Prairie Epitaphs, based on poems by Edgar Lee Masters

Suite for Piano (four pieces based on times of the day)

An Old Story (poem by Tracy K. Smith) for White Plains High School (NY) and friend Penelope Cruz

a re-arrangement of my song cycle, would that loving were enough for soprano, clarinet and piano.  The original as composed for soprano, English Horn, violin, viola and cello.

two arrangements for French horn septet based on  choral pieces:  Franz Biebl's Ave Maria and Sergei Rachmaninoff's Bogoroditse Devo.  Both pieces were beautifully premiere by the Horns of the St Louis Symphony in St Louis this summer.

Lots more coming up!   Please write to me if you'd like any more information about these works or others!  LRK
