WHAT'S IN THE WORKS? Big project underway...

After a spring 2019 when I had a number of premieres of short and moderate-sized pieces, a number of you have asked me what I'm writing...

Last spring, I had created new pieces or arrangements for the Cincinnatti Youth Choir, Portland Symphonic Girlchoir, Allegro Choirs of Kansas City and Rasdford University.  It was a busy year.

This is a different kind of year!  I wrote an SATB version of my arrangement of the Yiddish song "Tsvey Taybelekh", which was previously arranged for SSA.  Thanks to Lansing Area Community College and Lithuanian Choral Ensemble DAINAVA for making this possible.

But the BIG project will premiere in March 2020.  A 25-30 minute work for high school choirs and high school string orchestra, "Remember US" is a joint project among the choral and orchestra directors, American History and American literature teachers at Vernon Hills High School in Illinois. 2 years in the making, "Remember US" is a multimovement reflection of non-dominant voices in American History and literature. The texts represent Harlem Renaissance poets, immigrant and Native American writers, suffragettes, AIDS victims, and more...... The premiere will incorporate visual images, student projects, spoken word with underscoring, and much, much music. Big thanks you's to Jeremy Little, Dana Green, Amanda Carroll and Siobhan Szabo, my collaborators at VHHS.

Much interaction with students and teachers, premiere in March 2020, the entire work and individual movements available for performance in 2020-2021. Stay tuned....
